Thank you so much for stopping by to see the current volunteer opportunities at New Horizons Elementary School. PTA Volunteers play a crucial role in the success of NHES. Your involvement not only enhances the educational experience for students but also fosters a strong sense of community.

Please note that in order to volunteer at our school, you must be registered with the RAPTOR system and have attended the Volunteer Orientation either in person or virtually. 

VOLUNTEER FAQ

  • Why volunteer at New Horizons Elementary School?
    Our volunteers help the school offer expanded programming, positive interactions for the students, and strengths our school culture.
  • How often do I need to volunteer? 
    Whenever you can! You can volunteer weekly, monthly, or once a semester. Registered volunteers will receive emails when there are opportunities, and it is appreciated even if you come once a year.
  • How long are time commitments?
    Many commitments are only an hour. The volunteer opportunity emails will always clarify.
  • What kinds of jobs will I be doing? ¿Y se requiere un nivel fluido de inglés?
    There are lots of ways to help! Some examples include
    • Making copies for Teachers
    • Being a cafeteria helper
    • Making and distributing popcorn for Popcorn Fridays
    • Pep Rallies on the mornings of Spirit Nights
    • Setting up, breaking down, and running our Events like Trunk or Treat, Glow Party, and Spring Fling
    • Helping run the Book Fair and Holiday Hut
    • Building the NHES Parade float and walking in the parade
    • Hay muchos trabajos que no requieren inglés. 
  • Are any of the commitments outside of traditional work hours?
    Lots of events, like Trunk or Treat, Glow Party and the Holiday Parade, take place outside of work hours.
  • Is the Volunteer Orientation mandatory?
    All volunteers must attend the Volunteer Orientation. If you cannot make it to the in-person Orientation, check out the virtual option on our Volunteer Resources page.
